Description

  The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture's Regional Services Branch within the Ministry of Agriculture has a dynamic opportunity for a highly motivated leader with excellent communication skills to join their Crops Extension Specialist team.

As a Crops Extension Specialist, you will work with farmers, producer groups and industry to offer agronomic information and advice on proven crop production practices.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced agrologist who has in-depth knowledge of crops, soils, pest management and other topics relevant to crop production in Saskatchewan, and who is:

- A leader in the delivery of client service;
- An independent worker who also has the ability to work in a dynamic team of specialists;
- An exceptional communicator who is able to strategically interpret and transfer relevant information to producers, industry and colleagues;
- Organized and able to independently prioritize and meet deadlines;
- A strong interpersonal leader with demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, technical specialists and industry clients; and,
- Able to identify, analyze and develop viable options, explanations and solutions to complex agricultural production problems.

Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through a degree in agriculture with a major in agronomy, soil or plant science combined with extensive experience in crop production.  A Professional Agrologist designation or eligibility to obtain designation with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists is required, as defined by The Agrologists Act.

A valid class 5 drivers license is required.
