STR8 UP is hiring a fulltime Community Outreach Worker, to work within the Federal institutions (i.e., Saskatchewan Penitentiary, Willow Cree Healing Lodge & Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge etc.). This job will be based out of Prince Albert, SK. Responsibilities include: Develop positive working relationships with Elders, Chaplain, CSC staff, within the prison system Conduct sharing circles in facilities and meet with members in group settings for fellow-ship and programming Conduct intake, ongoing case planning and self-assessments with new member Maintain intake, case planning and attendance and referral records Advocate in justice, corrections, social services and other sectors for community supports Provide one-to-one life skills and problem-solving counselling Accompany and support members attending important appointments Assist in obtaining essentials to community living: Identification, financial assistance, housing, education, employment etc... Arrange access to spiritual and cultural practices to support healing Help maintain family contact during incarceration and in the community Arrange and assist in addictions programming Qualifications and Qualities At least 5 years justice sector experience B.A. or equivalent education and experience |
