Job Description: In accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the Autism Services program, the Autism Services Social Worker will work with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or suspected ASD and their families. The incumbent shall function within the framework and action plan for Autism Spectrum Disorders Services in Saskatchewan. This position provides service coordination and respite funding support; acts as funding application team lead; participates in team meetings; and provide support and referrals for families experiencing a new diagnosis, working through a transition, or families needing extra mental health supports in the former Heartland Health Region. The primary function of the Autism Services Social Worker is to coordinate services and support families on the current Autism Services program caseload.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Social Work
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)
Experience
Previous experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder and families with people who have Autism Spectrum Disorder is an asset
Previous experience with coordination of services and awareness of provincial organizations for funding options
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of human development and family dynamics relating to Autism Spectrum Disorder
Knowledge of provincial funding options and resources to support families is an asset
Ability to facilitate applications and participate in integrative case management to meet the needs of the clients
Knowledge in transition planning to support families
