Description

The Carillon Newspaper is hiring an Editor-in-Chief (EIC) to oversee editorial processes, ensuring content aligns with journalistic standards and engages the student body. The EIC will manage content creation, lead the editorial team, and maintain the integrity of the publication.

As the editorial leader, the EIC will supervise section editors, guiding article development and editing processes. The role includes leading editorial board meetings, setting editorial direction, and ensuring content is timely, relevant, and diverse. The EIC will write editorial pieces, coordinate content across sections, and copy-edit articles to uphold high standards of writing and accuracy.

The EIC will also foster relationships with contributors and writers to ensure a diverse talent pool and collaborate with the team to meet deadlines. Content will be produced for both digital and print formats, with a focus on maintaining journalistic integrity and clarity.

Ideal candidates should have a strong passion for journalism, excellent leadership and organizational skills, and experience in writing, editing, and content management. The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a student environment is essential. Familiarity with digital media and social media platforms is an asset.

The position is part-time (20 hours/week), with a flexible schedule. The EIC will earn $20 per hour, paid semi-monthly, with benefits including personal/sick days, vacation, and professional development funds.

Eligibility: The candidate must be a registered student at the University of Regina and legally entitled to work in Canada.
