As a Direct Support Professional, you'll uphold our organizations values by providing personalized support to individuals experiencing disability. Your role is pivotal in enhancing their independence, fostering their potential, and improving their overall quality of life.
As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for:
* Supporting individuals in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation and support, medication administration, attending medical appointments, and housekeeping duties.
* Provide accurate documentation of individuals progress, activities, health and incidents.
* Communicate effectively, with individuals who are non-verbal or have communication limitations, using techniques tailored to individual needs
* Identify triggers and intervene respectfully to prevent or manage challenging behaviors.
* Serve as a positive role model and encourage interpersonal skills development.
Bona fide requirements:
* Minimum availability of 12 shifts in 28 day roster, with flexibility of days, evenings and nights at various locations
* High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
* Valid Class 5 Divers License
* Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
* First Aide, CPR, TLR
* Proficient in spoken and written English
* Strong observational and multitasking skills
* Empathy and interest in working with persons experiencing disability
