The Touchwood Child & Family Services is seeking dedicated workers to fill the positions of Family Enhancement Workers based out of the Punnichy office.
The family Enhancement Workers will provide a wholistic approach to the wellness of the family, the child, and the community that is based on the Epistemology of First Nations law, beliefs, practices, the guidance and involvement of knowledge keepers and the support of family and community members.
QUALIFIACATIONS:
Bachelor of Social work (BSW or BISW) OR Four 4 year University undergraduate degree in a related discipline and demonstrated direct child protection services experience OR
Certificate/Diploma in related discipline and Child Protection Experience.
Working in conjunction with the community programs, and services, this individual must possess the ability to assess and identify risk families and the ability to refer and engage the appropriate resources.
Demonstrated experience in strength based/client centered/solution focused social work practice.
Ability to use Professional judgement and critical thinking.
Ability to work with and support the Child and Family Service Authorities
Engage in Cultural Opportunities and planning for parents, children, and family
Excellent Oral and written communications skills.
Knowledge and understanding of the impacts of colonialism on First Nation people, Indian residential schools, intergenerational trauma and how these factors impact individuals and families; and the influence of the child welfare system in First Nations communities.
Develop case plan based on risk factors
Case Management - home visits, case notes, progress, identity resources needed to carry out plans. Traditional or Westernized, Holistic approaches.
Knowledge of Family Services programs, Documentation Redmane /Database
Understands the complexity and multi-dimensional nature of many social problems affecting children and families (child abuse, maltreatment/abuse, and neglect, etc.)
