Description

The Moose Jaw Multicultural Council requires a finance controller. This position is responsible for:

- Facilitates management decision-making by gathering financial information and preparing required internal reports
- Preparing monthly financial statements
- Establishes and maintains guidelines for budget and forecast preparation
- Coordinating year end audits
- Presenting financial information to management and Board of Directors
- Develops and monitors tracking and reconciliation procedures for grant contributions, special projects and other funds
- Preparing claims to funders
- Ensuring accountability to funders, management and board of directors
- Processing payroll and deductions
- Reconciles and administers employee benefits program
- Prepares all bank deposits and makes deposits as required
- Entering transactions and generating reports from Sage50 as required
- Oversees Cleaning Personnel

The successful candidate will possess the following skills & knowledge:

- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and Sage 50
- Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities
- Knowledge of provincial legislation on Labour Standards.
- Significant knowledge of excel
- Knowledge of financial practices within the voluntary sector

- Advanced knowledge and education in Accounting and Business (designation preferred); a combination of relevant education and/or experience may be considered

Hours of work: Monday- Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM with one hour for lunch. Some evening work may be required.
