The Canadian Mental Health Association (SK Division) is seeking a passionate and innovative individual for the role of Justice Community Support Worker (JCSW). JCSW works as part of a multi-disciplinary team, within the Serious Violent Offender Response, to combine efforts, expertise, information and resources that address the full spectrum of crime reduction. As part of this initiative, the JCSW requires quick thinking skills to address risk and provide strength-based interventions that contribute towards a solution-focused team environment.
The Justice Community Support Worker (JCSW) will travel to surrounding communities, as one of the main points of contact for clients, providing trauma-informed support and guidance, collaborate with our partners in Community Corrections, RCMP and Crown Prosecutions to implement a wrap-around approach that ensures community safety and client support, help in developing and enhancing initiatives aimed at skill development, mental health and addiction psychoeducation and reinforcing prevention strategies.
The successful candidate will be capable of establishing professional networks with community resources, treatment centers, social services networks and non-profit organizations to deliver services/supports to clients have strong team skills and the ability to work independently, develop, plan and promote programing and activities that respond to the identified needs of clients, support programming by facilitating mental health and addiction learning modules, understand the principles of adult learning and demonstrate strong verbal and written communications skills, demonstrated ability to deliver culturally responsive services, capacity to exercise judgement and sensitivity with complex information.
The qualifications are a post-secondary education in a human service-related field, experience working in client-centered services, a combination of other relevant education and experience may also be considered.
