Position Summary:
The Town of Foam Lake invites applications for a seasonal employee in the Public Works Department. This position is seasonal, starting in May, and ending in December.
The position shall be filled by an individual who demonstrates self-motivation, has the ability to work with minimal supervision, strong public relations and interpersonal skills. Individual should be adaptable to changing environments and situations, and demonstrate a positive, professional attitude at all times. Individual must fulfill duties with integrity and respect towards the public, colleagues, and supervisors.
This position requires someone who has the ability to be a jack of all trades, with general knowledge and training in a variety of maintenance areas and equipment operations.
Areas of responsibility include:
Cemetery maintenance
Collection and disposal of compost
Care and maintenance of Town equipment and facilities
Park maintenance including grass cutting and ball diamonds
Campground maintenance including grass cutting and tree trimming
Desired knowledge, abilities and skills
Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks, quickly changing priorities, periodic heavy workload
Technical and working knowledge in mechanics
Ability to establish and maintain an excellent professional working relationship with staff and public
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when required
Must have a Valid Class C drivers license and a clean abstract
Work Hours and Benefits:
Normal work hours for the Public Works Labourer will be 40 hours per week, 7:00am-4:00pm Monday Friday. Hours are subject to change based on daily needs.
