Description

The Work Readiness Counselor, will help clients update or develop skills for employment. You'll work with individuals to improve language proficiency, job-specific knowledge, or CLB levels. Your role includes creating action plans, providing career coaching, and connecting clients to relevant training and certification programs.

Responsibilities:
Assess clients' work readiness, strengths, challenges, and skill gaps (including language and employment history)
Create personalized action plans to improve soft skills, technical skills, and language proficiency (e.g., CLB levels)
Conduct workshops and coaching on job search, interview skills, resumes, workplace communication, and job-specific skills
Refer clients to language programs, training, and certification to boost job readiness
Help clients enroll in programs to improve skills like digital literacy and professional development
Build relationships with employers, training organizations, and community partners for internships, job shadowing, and training
Stay updated on labor market trends and in-demand skills to guide clients' career goals
Keep accurate, confidential records of client progress and prepare reports for funders and stakeholders
Provide ongoing motivation and support to help clients stay engaged and achieve their goals

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, HR, Education, or related field
Post-graduate certification in career development or counseling is a plus
3-5 years of experience in counseling or employment services, especially with immigrants and refugees
Strong English communication skills; additional languages spoken by immigrants is a plus
Experience in career development, job readiness, or language programs (CLB)
Knowledge of the Canadian job market, labor laws, and training options
Experience working with diverse populations
Ability to manage multiple cases and work independently
