The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Cert Commission(SATCC) is seeking two (2) Term Female Apprenticeship Mentors, one in Regina and the other in Saskatoon, to provide support to Women in Skilled Trade Initiative in Regina. This position is with the Innovation and Inclusion Branch working one-on-one with female apprentices to provide mentorship and coaching.
Female Apprenticeship Mentors are highly skilled individuals with a strong background in coaching and mentoring and adult training methods to help provide access to career and training coaching. Female Apprenticeship Mentors work in partnership with the Apprenticeship Services consultants to foster resilience in female apprentices and increase their self-confidence, self-sufficiency, and self-sustainability. In this role, you will be working directly with female apprentices to mentor and coach them. Mentorship and coaching will consist of those activities performed or co-ordinated by persons who have the credentials to work with other individuals or groups of individuals, to assist them in developing an understanding self and the environment in order to make the most appropriate personal decisions and adjustments. The process will include a planned progression of client-centred experiences to enable individuals to acquire attitudes, knowledge, skills, and competencies related to life/career, decision-making, planning, or other-related issues or conflicts.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through a journey person status in a designated trade requiring four levels of training at an educational institute. However, a human services degree, a diploma or a certificate program related to adult client counselling, and/a combination of education and relevant experience in coaching and mentorship may be considered.
