Description

The Policy Analyst plays a key role in advancing initiatives to combat and prevent hate through intercultural understanding. Reporting to the Executive Director and supported by national partners, the Policy Analyst will conduct research and analysis, develop policy recommendations, and support implementation strategies that promote reconciliation, anti-racism, and systemic change.

Key Responsibilities

Lead research and analysis on Saskatchewan's progress toward TRC Calls to Action, MMIWG2S+ Calls for Justice & UNDRIP
Develop & maintain a reconciliation progress tracker
Prepare progress reports, dashboards & evidence-based assessments
Support the design, development & evaluation of anti-racism training frameworks & learning tools
Analyze policies & systems that contribute to racism or discrimination & recommend culturally informed changes
Produce policy briefs & recommendations that promote intercultural understanding & social cohesion
Develop policy initiatives aligned with AFCSs strategic priorities & project goals
Conduct jurisdictional scans & comparative research to inform effective solutions
Draft submissions to all levels of government, policy consultations & international human rights bodies

Qualifications

Degree in Law, Indigenous Studies, Public Policy, Political Science or related field
Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous rights, the TRC Calls to Action and MMIWG2S+ Calls for Justice
Strong writing & policy analysis skills with the ability to translate complex issues into actionable insights
Familiarity with government relations & intergovernmental processes at all levels
Knowledge of urban Indigenous realities & a commitment to social justice & equity
Experience engaging in anti-racism, reconciliation or hate prevention initiatives is a strong asset
