The Kinistin Saulteaux Nation is seeking a highly motivated individual to fulfil the role of Justice Reintegration Worker. This individual will fulfill responsibilities of all aspects of the community justice initiatives and the criminal justice system, and must be able to provide counselling services to clients.
Assist KSN Members who are referred to the Alternative Measures Program and to assist in understanding their rights, options and responsibilities including court procedures before the criminal courts.
To provide counseling, other than legal, information and a list of referral services to Aboriginal adults charged with criminal offences and youth alleged to have committed a criminal offence or quasi-
criminal offences under provincial statues.
To provide liaison services between accused & those involved in the administration of criminal justice.
To assist in enhancing the awareness & appreciation of those in the criminal justice system to Aboriginal traditions, values, customs, languages & socio-economic conditions.
To assist the client to obtain legal advice.
To give priority services for first and second-time offenders.
To develop reintegration plans for returning offenders, including ongoing counselling, victim medication, and any other related personal plans to ensure effective and positive reintegration.
To assist the KSN community in ensuring the utmost safety of all KSN members is assured when incarcerated citizens are being released and re-introduced to society.
To provide counselling and/or referrals for individuals requiring addiction services, mental health supports.
