The position of Headstart Childcare Worker is to provide a caring, warm and safe environment for children to enjoy developmentally appropriate play experiences while we incorporate our culture and land based learning. Focus on emotions, language development and guided play. The Headstart Childcare worker is responsible to engage with the children promoting relevant and age-appropriate activities.
Responsibilities:
Organized with excellent written skills and reporting work plans
Work independently to changing situation in the facility
Display kindness and compassion to the childrens needs
Develop and implement work plans and follows through the academic year
Daily, weekly, monthly record keeping for the programs and children
Assist with lesson preparation when required such as menu planning, reports and workplans
Plan and participate in land-based activities and planning events with the other staff
Supervise lunch and recess as required
Participate in school functions, events, staff workshops, professional development, program planning and staff meeting.
Point of contact for parents/guardians/grandparents etc of the children attending LPLL
Establish the ability to supervise children in a manner consistent with the goals and philosophy of the program and the LPLL
Other duties that may arise from time to time which reasonably relate to the position and ongoing operations of the Headstart Program.
Qualifications:
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Assistant Certification (Level 1 or Level 2) or relevant experience, or willing to obtain the minimum requirements immediately
Valid First Aid Certification and CPR Certificate & Current Safe Food Handling Certificate
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Willingness to attend training to further develop and grow
Decision Making & Critical thinking & Empathetic and nurturing personality
Planning and organizing of activities & commitment and dedication to the children
