Description

Applicants must hold a valid Class 5 drivers license.  Having a basic mechanical aptitude and prior knowledge of and experience operating motor graders would be an asset.  A Power Mobile Equipment operator competency certificate would also be considered an asset to the applicant.  The successful candidate must be able to work independently and be willing to perform all duties and responsibilities including:
o Adhere to all Policies, Procedures and the Employee Code of Conduct.
o Take a proactive approach in ensuring that their own work practices, the shop, equipment, outdoor operations, and roads comply with all applicable provincial and federal regulations, as well as the standards set by the RM Council.
o Maintain and repair all roads as required by road conditions.
o Operate machinery on roads in a professional, courteous, and safe manner.
o Carry out duties which may include general work around the shop, yard, and building, in addition to specific equipment operation tasks.
o Service the machinery, make and assist in repairs as qualified to do so.
o Ensure equipment is in a safe operating condition (walk around check/operational checks must be done. Equipment inspection reports must be completed and submitted).
o Ensure equipment engine is properly warmed up before operating.
o Contact the Reeve or the RM Office in the case of a major breakdown.
o Keep machines, equipment, shop and yard clean and in order.
o Follow directions
o Communicate with Council members, ratepayers, and fellow employees in a reasonable manner and with patience and respect.
o Must ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards and use personal protection equipment.
o Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
o Participate as a vital team member and contribute towards the success of the municipality.
o Operate equipment for prolonged periods usually sitting.
