A CNC Programmer/Operator is responsible for programming and operating CNC machines that are used to manufacture parts and products from raw materials. This position will be a part of the engineering department supporting production and enabling the delivery of composite components and tooling for both internal usage and as a part of product deliverables.
CNC Programming:
- Program and operate a 3-axis CNC router, and automated fabric cutting table to produce high-quality molds and components
- Develop efficient tool paths and machining strategies for composite materials, foams, and wood
- Interpret drawings, CAD, and technical documents to determine the machining processes and dimensions for automated fabric cutting table
- Set up the machine tools for the job, including selecting appropriate tools and materials.
- Design and fabricate jigs and fixtures to support the operations on the CNC, or other production activities
- Select, source, and spec out appropriate cutting tools and bits for different materials and applications.
CNC Machine Operation:
- Operate CNC machines to perform machining operations and be able to train other team members on the machine and processes
- Monitor machine performance to ensure it runs correctly and make adjustments as needed.
- Inspect parts and components for conformance to specifications using measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
- Perform machine setup, calibration, routine, maintenance and troubleshoot machining issues and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality
- Keep track of machine tools and materials used.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, following company policies and industry best practices
Quality Control:
- Perform quality checks using both visual inspection and advanced measuring techniques.
- Record all machining parameters and results for quality documentation.
