The Natawihin-Nakasuwenik Medical Clinic at Ile a la Crosse, SK, managed by Northern Medical Services, Univ. of Sask. requires the services of a Medical Records Clerk who will be a valuable member of the support team responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the medical clinic. The Clinic provides a spectrum of medical services from prevention and primary care, through to itinerant specialists with access to secondary and tertiary services, as well as remote training for Family Medicine Residents and medical students. The Medical Records Clerk will have a close working relationship with the Saskatoon-based Administrative office.
The successful candidate will provide the following duties: Vital Signs for patients; EMR tasks scanning and importing documents, labs, x-rays, emergency visit notes; distribution of electronic notes, re-directing electronic notes from physicians tasks; manage incoming faxes; distribute and scan to physicians their reports, consults and lab results. Paperwork is high volume and continuous, ensure all areas of paper flow is managed and distributed accordingly. Copying and faxing documents as directed. Recognize types of reports and consults, as these are entered into the clients EMR; Reception; assist the clinic staff during busy periods; and other administrative duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years experience in a clerical office role. They will have knowledge of and respect for First Nations and Metis lifestyle, culture and traditions. Computer skills are essential; knowledge of medical terminology and EMR is an asset. Keen attention to accuracy and attention to detail, understanding the importance of confidentiality and professionalism, and the ability to work efficiently is required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, interpersonal and organization skills are essential. Emphasis on safe and quality patient care is required.
