Under the supervision of the Mental Health & Addictions Coordinator, the incumbent will provide Peer Support Services with on-call support as required. The incumbent will think critically and be cooperative with community resources as required. The incumbent will work closely with clients, family members and staff to provide referrals, support, and advocacy. Maintain accurate documentation will be a component of the position. The ideal incumbent should understand the needs of the community and can maintain balance between professionalism and compassion for individuals in need.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
Post Secondary Certificate in Human Services field, with two or more years experience working in Mental Health a combination of relevant education and experience will be considered;
Experience working with First Nations and demonstrated understanding of First Nations health and social issues, history, traditions, and values;
Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision;
Skills
Creative, resourceful, problem solver that excels in resolving communication issues
Excellent crisis intervention, case notes,referrals and report writing skills
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Ability to work independently and highly organized
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Requirements & Special Conditions
Knowledge of First Nations culture and language an asset;
Strict confidentiality
Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driverss license, must have a reliable vehicle
Must have First Aid & CPR, Crisis Intervention, Mental Health First Aid and ASIST would be an asset
Ability to work alone and lead healthy lifestyle for a minimum of five (5) years
