The Public Works Foreman is a working position, responsible for the delivery of all public works services, including directing and supervising the work of Public Works staff. The Town Foreman will operate under the direction of the Operations Manager.
The successful applicant will:
have experience in a municipal public works position,
have good interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with Council, management and staff, contractors and ratepayers
have documentation and record keeping skills,
be self-motivated,
be able to manage time effectively, and be able to work independently,
demonstrate attention to detail and be safety conscious
have experience supervising projects and employees, along with planning experience,
Required qualifications include:
Grade 12 or equivalent,
valid Class 5 drivers license,
experience operating heavy equipment including, but not limited to graders, tractors, skid steer, bulldozer, etc.,
Power mobile equipment certification
Class 1 water treatment, water distribution, wastewater treatment and wastewater collection certifications.
First Aid, air brakes endorsement, power mobile equipment evaluator, and all other safety, public works, OH&S certifications are assets.
The Foreman position is typically a Monday Friday, 7 a.m. noon, 1 4 p.m. position with weekend rotation expected for facility checks (monitoring of equipment/water samples). The Foreman position is in-scope with United Steelworkers, Local 5917. Current Wage: $35.01/hr.
