The Prince Albert Grand Council requires an Environmental Public Health Officer to work in our twelve member First Nations.
Job Summary:
As an Environmental Public Health Officer, you will be responsible for protecting, promoting, and enhancing the health and wellness of First Nations Communities through delivery of environmental public health programs and services in the following areas: Communicable disease control, drinking water safety, health and housing, food safety, solid waste management, public buildings inspections, wastewater disposal, pest management, emergency preparedness and response, environmental contaminants research, and risk assessment.
Qualifications:
- Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada), and a minimum of one-year recent experience as a Public Health Inspector/Environmental Public Health Officer is desired.
- Ability to work effectively in a team approach within a cross-cultural setting.
- Good communication skills, presentation, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, judgement and decision-making skills.
- Ability to travel extensively to distant and remote and/or fly-in communities with possibility of overnight stays.
- Experience working with office productivity software (Microsoft Office suite of products ? Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access).
- Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset.
- A criminal record check and vulnerable sector check will be required for this position.
- Valid driver's license is required.
