Position Overview:
The SWIS Rural Coordinator supports newcomer students and families in rural schools across Southeast Saskatchewan. This role requires frequent travel to provide settlement assistance, facilitate cultural integration, and connect families with essential resources. The ideal candidate is a proactive relationship-builder with a passion for helping newcomers thrive in rural communities. The main office for this position will be based in Weyburn.
Key Responsibilities:
-Travel to rural schools at least 3 days per week to deliver in-person settlement support.
-Collaborate with school staff and community partners to address newcomer needs.
-Provide one-on-one guidance to students and families on education, cultural adjustment, and local services.
-Facilitate communication between families, schools, and service providers.
-Deliver workshops and settlement-related information sessions.
-Advocate for newcomer families and ensure their voices are heard.
-Maintain accurate records, track program outcomes, and prepare reports
Qualification:
-Experience working with newcomer families, preferably in rural areas.
-Strong understanding of settlement challenges and rural school environments.
-Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to work independently and manage a travel-focused schedule.
-Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and ability to travel extensively.
-Clear Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check required.

-Driver's abstract and proof of $2 million liability insurance (cost covered by the employer).
