The Programs & Services Trainer will provide an in-house training schedule for training and orientation of YTL Employees; utilizing approved training modules for roles, responsibilities, process and procedures based on YTL Training modules, Guides, Handbooks, Policies and Procedures that exists between Stream 1, Stream 2 and Stream 3 of the YTL Service Delivery Model and Intervention response.
Working in conjunction with the Yellow Thunderbird Lodge Programs & Services units, this individual must possess the ability to facilitate and engage the appropriate training resources.
Ability to use Professional Judgement, Problem Solving and Critical thinking.
The Programs & Services Trainer must have the ability to understand the impacts of colonialism on First Nations peoples, Indian Residential Schools, intergenerational trauma and how these factors impact individuals and families and influence the child welfare system in First Nation communities.
The Programs & Services Trainer must have good written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking and organization skills.
The Programs & Services Trainer understands the complexity and multi-dimensional nature of many social problems affecting children and families (child abuse, maltreatment/abuse, etc.).
Knowledge of a First Nations language is considered an asset.
Knowledge of the Anishinabek, Nehiyew, Nakota, Dakota and Lakota and the political and social objectives of the YTL-YTCCFS Inc. member First Nations.
Possess a valid drivers license and possess a reliable vehicle.
Must be willing to upgrade skills when time and funding permits.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
Must be able to sign an Oath of Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure.
-Bachelor of Social Work (BSW or BISW) OR
-Four (4) year University undergraduate degree in a related discipline and demonstrated direct child protection services experience OR
-Certificate/Diploma in related discipline and Child Protection experience.
