With direction from Willow Cree Health Services (WCHS), the incumbent will support and adhere to the Mission/Vision of the organization to provide services to the community of Beardys & Okemasis Cree Nation (BOCN).
The Indian Residential School (IRS) Support Worker works with the Community Wellness Worker for Elders and the overall department of Mental Health and Addictions Team. The IRS Support Worker provides mental health and emotional supports to eligible former Indian Residential School students and their families before, during and after their participation in Settlement Agreement processes, including: Day School hearing process, the Independent Assessment Process, Truth and Reconciliation Commission events and Commemoration activities. The IRS Support Worker should have a good knowledge base of culture and traditions. Weekly case management meetings are required with the Mental Health and Addictions Team.
Qualifications:
Certificate in Human Services field
Experience
One to three years experience with a good understanding of Indian Residential Resolution Health Support Program;
Knowledge of case management is an asset;
Understanding of effects of residential schools;
Knowledge of First Nation culture an asset; and,
Computer knowledge, software applications, cell phone literate.
