The Outreach Worker will play a key role in supporting community through the facilitation of workshops, programs, and training aimed at addressing issues such as safety, empowerment, and community connection. This position requires an individual who is committed to serving communities in a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate and deliver workshops, programs, and training to women and children, focusing on safety, emotional well-being, empowerment, and life skills development.
Engage with community partners and resources to enhance program
Provide one-on-one support and advocacy for women and children in crisis situations.
Assist in the development and implementation of new programs designed to meet the unique needs of women and children.
Collaborate with the team to ensure culturally appropriate and trauma-informed services are provided.
Maintain confidential and accurate records of interactions, programs, and client files.
Promote awareness and understanding of the shelter's services and resources within the community.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Psychology, or a related field, or relevant work experience.
Experience in community outreach, program facilitation, and direct service work preferably in an Indigenous context.
Strong understanding of the unique issues faced by Indigenous women and children, including the impact of intergenerational trauma, domestic violence, and the need for culturally relevant services.
Ability to facilitate group workshops and programs in a supportive and engaging manner.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle is required.
