Description

The Corporate Service Division of the City of Swift Current is seeking an individual to assume the position of Accounting/Office Clerk (Floater) within the Financial Services Department. This is a temporary, full-time position for a period of six (6) months. Reporting to the Manager of Finance, this position is responsible for assisting with the workload and providing complete coverage when required in the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Utility Billing, Purchasing, Property Taxation, and Customer Service as required in the Financial Services Department.  

The successful candidate will understand accounting practices and related computer programs and software. This position contributes to the seamless flow of work within the organization; therefore, the successful candidate may be assigned to provide coverage in other divisions and departments as needed.

Basic Requirements:
    Diploma in the area of accounting, finance or business from a recognized post-secondary institution;
    Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in accounting, finance or business related functions;
    Previous experience with a public sector entity would be considered an asset;
    A combination of education and experience may be considered;
    Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, property taxation, payment application, customer service and general accounting processes;
    Ability to collect, organize, enter and distribute large volumes of information with attention to detail and accuracy, in a timely manner;
    Ability to work independently and with a self-directed approach as well as the ability to work well with multidisciplinary teams;
