We are seeking a Food Security Operations Assistant to work with staff and volunteers to deliver our programs.
Duties include:
-Packaging fresh produce, dry goods, and frozen meals for distribution
-Operating mobile stores, including handling cash and dealing with customers
-Assisting in the maintenance, security, and cleaning of the facility and equipment
-Pickup and delivery of food and equipment driving a cargo van.
-Providing encouragement and support to volunteers and program participants
This is a part time position with a minimum of 15 hours per week, with the potential for more. Standard hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Additional hours, when available, will fall between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. Please include your work availability in your application.
Requirements:
-A Grade 12 diploma or GED
-A valid driver's license and an acceptable driver's abstract
-Excellent oral and good written communication skills
-Good math skills
-Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform other common physical labour
-Basic computer skills
-A criminal record check free of any criminal convictions related to violence, sexual offences, or fraud
-Experience handling cash and working with customers is an asset
