In this role, you will be responsible for providing radiation support to the operations, which includes:
- Managing the as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) program, radiation procedures, and controls
- Collecting, maintaining, and recording radiation data from the facilities
- Issuing of radiation work permits
- Developing quality control procedures and training of staff
- Managing power air purifying respirator (PAPR) cleaning and training personnel specific to site demands
- Conducting routine monitoring and assessing work conditions pertaining to radiation protection for the safety of all workers
- Providing advice to the operation related to radiation safety
- Assisting with any CIRS investigations and providing guidance for corrective actions on any radiation related incidents
Required:
- Radiation or environmental monitoring technician certificate or a post-secondary education in a science related field
- Five to eight years of applicable work experience with radiation protection principles
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Experience managing a team
- Work independently and as part of team with safety as a core value
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft excel, and database applications
- Mining experience, specifically at a uranium mine site
- Experience as a member of the Occupational Health Committee (OHC)
- An aptitude and desire to become a member of the emergency response team
