Description

The City of Prince Albert is seeking a Financial Analyst to fill a term position of up to eighteen (18) months in our Financial Services Department. The Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in the Citys financial accountability and planning. The incumbent works with the Senior Management in developing projections on current and future capital projects, forecasting operating surpluses and shortfalls, and recommending changes to meet the Citys financial objectives. The incumbent recommends financial decisions and directions that impact staffing levels, service delivery levels, and work force design.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides operational and capital projections used to inform key financial decisions such as
capital project feasibility, staffing levels, service delivery levels, and work force design.
Identifies current and future financial risks and/or fraudulent practices within the City and
offers mitigation strategies.
Benchmarks and reviews performance against other municipalities and jurisdictions and
report those findings to Senior Administration.
Calculate financial ratios/variances and educate and inform Senior Administration and City
Council on those ratios and the impact on the Citys financial status.
Provide financial reports utilizing real time data to management.

Required Qualifications:
Post-secondary Degree in Commerce or Business Administration, or equivalent and
Chartered Professional Accountant Designation (CPA), or equivalent and
Minimum of five years experience in accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, or other
related financial activities.
Relevant municipal experience would be considered an asset.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
