Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, the Youth Detox Nurse exercises independence in the provision of individualized assessment and care to patients in a specialized unit that provides secure drug detoxification and stabilization to youth under Section 12 of the Youth Drug Detoxification and Stabilization Act. The incumbent in this position will work closely with the facility youth workers, on-call physicians, psychiatrists, Emergency Services, the Adolescent Psychiatry Unit, Community Mental Health and Addiction Services, and other Region and community stakeholders to develop and deliver high quality services for youth suffering from severe drug addiction or drug abuse. In addition, the incumbent provides patient and family education and support while the patient is on the unit and acts as a role model and clinical resource regarding management of psychiatric, intoxicated and aggressive patients.

Human Resources Exemption: No

Education
- Graduate from an approved School of Psychiatric Nursing or graduation from an approved school of general nursing supplemented by recognized post-graduate training in  psychiatric nursing.

- Current PART and CPR certification required.
Licenses
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year recent experience in community mental health/addictions nursing and/or an acute psychiatric unit is required.
