Reporting to the Director of Operations the Director of Family Wellness will lead the George Gordon First Nation members to a holistic and culturally driven model of healing. The Director of Family Wellness will work closely with the DO building a new department focused on a First Nations world view. The Director of Family Wellness will be responsible for all development, implementation and oversight of programming that supports the GGFN members including providing updated reports to all stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and lead all Family Wellness department staff
- Develop and implement Prevention and Family Wellness programming based on community needs assessments and evidence-based research
- Collaborate with consultants, organizations, stakeholders and Nation leadership
- Advocate and liaise for GGFN members
- Engage with community kehtehyak to develop Prevention and Family Wellness programs
- Ensure legal compliance in all areas of operations, creates a safe and respectful work environment
- Provide presentations to leadership, members, and stakeholders
- Prepare annual budgets of the Family Wellness Department
- Perform staff probationary and performance evaluations authorities are completed in timely manner
- Develop, implement, review and revise Prevention and Family Wellness policies and procedures
- Collaborate and partner with provincial and federal bodies to improve and enhance Prevention and Family Wellness programming
QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related discipline or an equivalency of education and experience in the human services field
- Minimum of five (5) years of senior management experience.
- Experience working with addictions and high-risk families
- Experience working with database systems and development
- Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions in healing
- Models a healthy lifestyle and encourages healing and well-being of staff.
