The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is a national research facility of the University of Saskatchewan. CLS produces very bright light to explore the nature and structure of molecules, and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions.
The Canadian Light Source is currently recruiting for a Research Security Student Assistant within the Science Division. Reporting to the User Experience Lead, this position will be a casual position in which the successful student can work a maximum of ten hours per week, and the initial contract will run until August 29, 2025.
Representative Duties:
- The successful student will be required to initially familiarize themselves on the Canadian Federal Governments Policy on Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern and CLS Research Security Protocols.
- Use open source tools to verify the affiliations of CLS users.
- Work alongside their supervisor to identify users whose affiliations raise Research Security concerns.
- Assist with determining the workload required to continuously monitor new user registrations.
- Assist with determining the workload required to re-verify existing user registrations on a routine basis.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree or diploma program. Any discipline will be considered, but the position would suit applicants with an interest in international relations.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
- Knowledge of multiple languages would be considered an asset.
