Description

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture is seeking a collaborative and innovative leader for the role of the Director, Intergovernmental Relations to lead intergovernmental strategy and advance Saskatchewans agricultural interests with other provinces, territories, and the federal government. Expertise in government decision-making processes, intergovernmental relations, and collaboration, combined with an ability to navigate new and emerging challenges is essential for success.

Our candidate of choice must be a pro-active, innovative, and collaborative team player with a reputation for integrity who demonstrates:

-Understanding of the current state between federal-provincial-territorial relations as it relates to the agriculture sector and the Government of Saskatchewan Growth Plan;
-Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills as you develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
-Extensive experience providing sound and actionable advice to senior leadership on the province's intergovernmental interests;
-Expertise as an influential communicator experienced in facilitation and negotiation;
-Experience preparing policy documents, briefing materials, and decision items for a variety of audiences;
-Experience working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve goals or resolve problems while maintaining positive and respectful working relationships; and
-Experience leading strategic initiatives, managing change and achieving results.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required for this position were obtained through a combination of:
- A masters degree in political science, public policy, public administration, economics, business, or a related discipline;
- Extensive intergovernmental and leadership experience: and
- A combination of education and experience.
