The Rural Municipality of Buckland No. 491 is seeking qualified applicants to fill a position as Community Safety Officer (Special Constable) for our community.
This position involves regulating, enforcing, and educating municipal, provincial, and federal laws.
The Community Safety officer investigates complaints from the public, municipal departments, and Council regarding alleged infractions of the RMs regulatory bylaws. The CSO will undertake appropriate action to gain compliance through negotiation, council, or court actions. The CSO position involves extensive contact and liaison with the community, first responders, public safety, and service organizations. You must be a team player who can balance your time and involvement within the community, prioritizing calls for service, duties and completing assigned tasks on time with minimal supervision.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements;
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    Class 5 drivers license required with driver abstract.
    Community Safety Officer Training.
    Minimum of 2 years of experience within Bylaw Enforcement, RCMP, Police, or Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.
    Clean criminal record check, including a Vulnerable Sector check required.
    Must possess and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance.
    Understanding the purpose of Municipal Bylaws and experience creating and applying them lawfully.
    Understanding legislation including but not limited to The Municipalities Act and The Planning and Development Act.
    Experience in property inspection, issuing orders, gaining compliance with orders and court prosecutions.
    Willing to partake in ongoing training and certifications.
    Must be a Canadian citizen.
