The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is seeking a highly motivated individual who has a strong background in Saskatchewan OHS legislation and practical (field) experience to fill a key position as an Occupational Health and Safety Consultant.
Reporting to the Director of Occupational Health and Safety, this position will promote and ensure ministry compliance with WCB legislation and policy, The Saskatchewan Employment Act, The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace including continuous improvements to the ministry's occupational and psychological safety programs.
To be successful in this position, you will have an in-depth knowledge of current trends, issues, programs, legislation, policies and standards regarding occupational and psychological health, safety and wellness. You will have demonstrated the ability to handle a large and diversified workload with rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
Typically, you will have gained the knowledge and skills required for this position through the completion of Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP); Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC); and/or diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. Significant experience in occupational health and safety as a primary job responsibility is preferred; however, a related degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
