Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Assessment and Intake:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and youth, including gathering information from parents/guardians, teachers, and other relevant sources.
Assess for risk factors and safety concerns.
Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the child/youth and their family.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
Therapeutic Interventions:
Provide individual and group counselling using evidence-based practices tailored to the developmental needs of children and youth.
Utilize play therapy, art therapy, and other creative modalities as appropriate.
Assist children and youth in developing coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, and positive behaviours.
Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
Collaboration and Advocacy:
Collaborate with parents/guardians to provide guidance and support in addressing their child's needs.
Work closely with schools and other community agencies to ensure coordinated care.
Advocate for children and youth to access necessary resources and services.
Professional Development and Ethics:
Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain professional boundaries.
Participate in ongoing professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Engage in supervision and consultation with other professionals to ensure best practices.
