The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, Operational Response - Air Operations, has a Term opportunity for up to three (3) qualified Air Attack Officers located in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Air Operations provides aerial firefighting support to the public of Saskatchewan.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Successful completion of Level III Air Attack Officer Training
- Successful completion of Advanced Fire Behavior Course
- Candidates must have numerous years of wildfire experience
- Successful completion of agency Wildfire Management and aviation courses (preferable)
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers license.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of provincial wildfire policies, priorities, and integrated suppression concepts; wildland fire suppression methods and strategies, safety factors, aerial suppression concepts, and rotary wing operations; and fixed-wing tanker capabilities. limitations, and retardant delivery systems. You will also have knowledge of instructional techniques, training material preparation and effective use of instructional aids for training purposes. Knowledge of fire weather, fuel types, and their combined effects on fire behavior; fire mapping, operational application of GPS systems, and navigation; and operation of department radio equipment and accepted procedures for communicating in a multi-user environment is also required.
