The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is a treasury board crown responsible for emergency communications including Sask911 and SaskAlert, wildfire management, emergency management and fire safety. This centralized agency ensures a single point of contact for communities, greater co-ordination of provincial resources and contributes to safer communities in our province.
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is seeking an Electronics Technologist. Reporting to the Technical Services Unit Supervisor, the incumbent will apply knowledge and technical expertise of wireless voice and data communications systems, principles and processes in the effective delivery of public safety telecommunications support services. The position is Headquartered in Prince Albert.
The successful applicants will:
Provide technical services for the Provincial Public Safety Telecommunications Network (PPSTN) supporting mobile two-way radio communications and peripherals such as dispatch consoles for public safety service providers across the province.
Support a wide range of electronic equipment including dedicated wildfire suppression communication equipment, automated weather stations, smoke detection cameras, and vehicle-mounted signaling and communication equipment.
Accurately identify issues, concerns or problems, consider various options and determine and implement an appropriate course of action;
Plan, prioritize, organize and manage a large volume of tasks and projects taking into consideration frequent interruptions and conflicting and changing priorities to meet strict deadlines;
Requirement:
Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through a two-year Electronic Engineering or Computer Science Diploma, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
