Flying Dust First Nation is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to provide management within the administration division. The COO is responsible for the management, administration and direct supervision of directors and managers, the advisory of all band programs and services in order to ensure that the needs of Members are met in a reasonable, effective and efficient manner.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Strategic and Operational Planning
Provide leadership in developing the organization's strategic and operational plans under the direction of Chief and Council.
Ensure that strategic goals/plans, policies, procedures, and community programs are developed, implemented, and evaluated.
Financial Management
Provide support to the Chief Financial Officer, Program Managers and relevant entities in the development and management of annual operating and capital budgets.
Establish and ensure internal financial controls are in place.
Program and Service Delivery
Oversee program delivery in government, finance, public works, employment & training, post-secondary, income assistance, housing, etc.
Council Governance
Ensure all Band Council business is conducted within relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Relationship Management
Manage staff in accordance with HR Policy and performance expectations including routine supervision and performance evaluations.
Experience and Education Requirements:
Post-secondary education in organizational administration and management, business, finance, Aboriginal studies, or another related field is preferred
Experience in project development, implementation, and management.
5+ years of related experience, ideally in a management role for a First Nations organization, with responsibility for the following areas:
o Financial management
o Budgeting
o Human resources management
o Program management and delivery
o Program evaluation
