Hours of Work: 2 hours per week Thursday evenings
Length of Employment: 11 weeks
The Y's Kids Children Exposed to Violence program offers families space to help process their experience of violence and abuse in the home. Children and youth are divided into groups while parents and caregivers meet to go over what their kids are learning and have their own discussions on the same topics in a supportive environment. The Y's Kids/CEV program is put on using a child-centered, trauma-informed approach. The focus is on a feeling of safety and belonging while learning a few things along the way.
Responsibilities:
To lead in the delivery of programming for small groups of children/youth, ages 5-14, that meet once a week alongside their parents/caregivers. The program follows a YWCA manual of age-appropriate content and includes all the necessary books, materials and activity supplies that are required.
Facilitators will work together to provide a safe and supportive environment, adapting to the children and their needs.
Facilitators need to be available to attend a training and orientation ahead of the 10-week program session.
Qualifications:
Required
We are looking for facilitators with strong leadership skills who are interested in working with children/youth. They need to be familiar with the area of gender-based violence and work within a child-centered, trauma-informed lens.
Need to be available for 2 hours in the evening, once a week, on Thursdays for 11-weeks.
Need to submit a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check no older then 3 months from start date.
