Reporting to the principal the teacher will be responsible for instructing students by creating Unit plans, lesson plans to instruct students on Core subject areas and to create a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program. The teacher will also be expected to work collaboratively with Literacy, Numeracy Catalysts, Land-based culture program and the Special Education Teacher to support student learning outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Establish classroom management plans, observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as cooperative learning, discussions, and demonstrations, etc.
Establish clear outcomes for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those outcomes to students.
Be knowledgeable about administration policies and rules governing students (student/school safety handbooks).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Candidates should be passionate about teaching and have a love for the students.
Collaborates well with colleagues on pedagogical approaches, curricular alignment and instructional strategies. Promotes the use of multiple methods in solving problems.
participating in the Land-based and culture program, be cognizant of the Mihkosikiwakak Nehiyawak Culture and participate in cultural activities in the community.
Demonstrated professional behavior, including discretion, judgment and integrity. Follow Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics as per Red Earth Education Authority Policies and Administrative Procedures.
