Description

Reporting to the Jordans Principle Services Coordinator, the Social Worker works closely with children, youth, families and the community at large to ensure positive outcomes for the children, youth and families of Red Earth Cree Nation. The Social Worker maintains a balance between protecting children and youth and strengthening and maintaining family unity. Knowledge of the available social services is an asset to support well-informed referrals and developing and facilitating programs for school-aged children and youth.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
    Bachelors degree in social work.
    Ability to assess situations and determine what services are needed
    Strong listening skills with sound judgement
    Ability to remain objective and nonjudgmental
    Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally and provide written reports as required.  
    Patience and the desire to help others with different points of view
    Emotional stability and maturity to handle sensitive topics and information
     Provide basic counselling to children and youth.
    Facilitate Family Circles in case conferences in a time sensitive manner.
     Provided holistic programming in community setting.

    Develop and facilitate programming to improve outcomes for children, youth and families.
    Assist in the coordination of cultural camps.
    Maintenance of accurate files; entering all relevant case notes in digital format.
    Referrals for counselling services, alcohol and drug programming, assessment, etc.
     Ensures all programming has a traditional component and involves cultural advisors.
    Experience in Program Development and Facilitation.
