Description

Zagim Anishinabk is seeking a dedicated and experienced Bison Farm Operator to manage the daily operations of its bison herd, currently consisting of approximately 123 bison. The Bison Farm Operator will be responsible for overseeing the care and maintenance of the herd, infrastructure, and equipment, and assisting in the management of resources and facilities.

Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily feeding, watering, and overall care of the bison.
Monitor and assess pasture conditions, including grass availability and water sources.
Assist with sorting, moving, and managing bison stock intake.
Ensure the safety and efficiency of paddocks and report any vandalism.
Participate in and support training sessions for bison handling.
Collaborate with internal and external resources and partners.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on daily activities and other operational data and submit monthly reports.
Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
Hands-on experience in livestock care and bison herd management.
Knowledge of effective livestock management, grazing techniques, and pasture procedures.
Knowledge of low stress moving techniques for bison.
Ability to assess herd health and administer minor treatments.
Experience operating farm equipment and performing minor repairs.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed records.
Ability to follow directions, work independently, and take initiative.
Physical ability to perform intensive labor tasks as required.
Flexibility to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to work flexible schedule.
Must have valid class 5 license
Completion of pre-employment substance testing.
Criminal records check w/vulnerable sector check.
