Reporting to Director of Health & Safety, this position works in the field to implement and monitor our Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and business objectives.
TRAVEL TO NORTHERN MINE SITES & EXPLORATION CAMPS IS REQUIRED.
Duties:
- Ensure day-to-day activities, from an OH&S perspective, comply with legislations, regulations, acts, by-laws, policies & procedures and sound business practices.
- Ensure company SMS is in place, understood and followed by all staff.
- Evaluate and monitor H&S hazards providing for a safe and healthy workplace for all employees and clients.
- Work with Managers to ensure safety incidents are investigated, corrective actions identified & implemented and report submitted in company safety software.
- Deliver Safety training to workforce. i.e. WHMIS, Investigations etc.
- Complete safety inspections & participate in Safety Audits.
- Ensure required documentation for JTOs, JHAs, inspections, incidents, & all safety related documents are accurately & thoroughly completely by Managers and submitted in safety software program within required timelines.
- Ability to review, edit, or develop Safe Work Practices & Procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 2+ years experience.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Pass a pre-access drug & alcohol test.
- Frequent & regular travel, via flying and/or vehicle.
- Remote shift work (11-hour days); equalized schedules (e.g. 2 weeks in/out, 10 days in/out)
- Strong communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Standard OHS First Aid
- WHMIS Train the Trainer
- Food Safe Level 1 and/or 2
- Internal Auditor certificate
- OHS Level I and II
- Supervision for Safety
- HSA, CSO or NCSO
- Other OHS Certificates, Degrees, or credentials.
- Safety Training Certificates from industry Safety Associations; i.e. SCSA, Service Hospitality, HCSAS, SASM or WorkSafe Saskatchewan
