Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Support Worker works closely with families and the community at large to ensure positive outcomes for the youth and families of Onion Lake Cree Nation. The Family Youth Support Worker maintains a balance between protecting the youth and strengthening and maintaining family unity, working with families in their homes as well as developing and facilitating programs.
Job Skills:
Provide basic counselling to families and youth.
Facilitate Family Circles in a time sensitive manner.
Provided educational programming in the school system.
Develop and facilitate programming to improve outcomes for youth and families.
Coordination of annual youth conference in partnership with school system.
Host workshops on appropriate parenting and life skills.
Coordination of family camps.
Advocate for and assist with clients in addressing barriers.
Maintenance of accurate client files; entering all relevant case notes on case management computer program.
Referrals to community agencies for needs such as counselling services, alcohol and drug programming, assessment, etc.
Ensures all programming has a traditional component and involves cultural advisors.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
Certificate or Diploma in the related field or equivalent; or combination of experience and training.
Experience in Program Development and Facilitation.
Valid Drivers License, Drivers abstract, Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Work evenings and weekends as required to meet programming needs.
