The Rustics Program Leader is responsible for planning and delivering a specific camp program activity area Rustics.
Duties include:
- Provide a wide variety of activities related to the outdoors, nature appreciation, and rustic adventures that are safe, fun and adapted so that all can participate.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate creative and adaptive activities for all camp participants, including group activities, campfires, evening programs and camp-wide programming.
- Promote camper choice, engagement, and adaptability to ensure campers recreational and social needs are positively and safely met.
- Manage the Rustics shed and inventory.
- Participate fully in all aspects of team and camp life.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Educational background/experience in camping, recreation, education, disability studies, social work, or related programs is an asset.
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing camp skills and lore that further develop campers appreciation, enjoyment and skills.
- Experience in archery or other outdoor activities is an asset.
- Previous experience working or volunteering with individuals experiencing disability is considered an asset.
Skills:
- Creative, patient, empathetic, and adaptable; an outside the box thinker.
- Ability to lead and instruct campers in activities; organized and detailed oriented.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to handle multiple demands under pressure.
- Ability to positively interact with campers experiencing disability, all staff and external contacts.
Final Candidates are required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check.
Camp Easter Seal is located at Manitou Beach, SK. Transportation to and from camp is the personal responsibility of staff. Room and board is included (scheduled weekdays only).
