Description

This position will be responsible for Olymels western hog production grow-finish operations overall feed management. The focus will be to consistently improve and maintain feed conversion ratios through management of feed budgets, feed quality, feeder management and training. This position will report on results benchmarked against historical and industry standards with the goal of producing tangible results that will result in a positive and measurable financial contribution for Olymel.

General Responsibilities
Develop a feeder management program that targets feed to gain in Olymels western grow finish operations
Establish an annual Feed Conversion (FC) baseline using historical closeout data.
Develop procedures for the feeder management program  
Communicating the feeder management program effectively to staff via on-farm visits.
Conduct on-farm visits/audits to ensure compliance with the feeder management strategy.
Feed budget management and cost reporting.
Develop KPI dashboards  
Collaborate with production services and feed mill operations on quality and best practices.
Identify/recommend changes that will reduce costs or improve efficiency.
Communicate results and objectives effectively.
Initiate corrective actions as required.
Other duties as required.

Education/Experience Required
University Degree in Animal Science or related discipline or 3-5 years equivalent experience
Good understanding of swine nutrition
Good understanding of Hog Production and the impact of genetics, growth, health, handling, environment, etc. on feed conversion.
Familiarity with implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives and with Quality Control programs
Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel)
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to conduct enterprise analysis
Familiarity with budgeting processes
Experienced in collaborating with a large, diverse cross-sectional team
