Description

Work should be so much more than just a job you do to earn a paycheque. And at SGI, it is.

We offer the essentials - a competitive salary, great pension, and excellent employer-paid family benefits. But we also provide opportunities. The opportunity to do work that makes a difference in your community. The opportunity to expand your professional skills and grow your career. And the opportunity to come to work every day to a job you're passionate about and that leaves you feeling happy and fulfilled.

We're looking for a talented Data Scientist to join our team and help us make data-driven decisions to deliver better products. This role is eligible for hybrid, remote or on-site at any workspace in the provinces that we operate, which include SK, MB, AB, ON, and BC.

We hope you consider applying if you:
- Have insurance knowledge and can apply data science solutions effectively
- Can think critically with the ability to analyze situations, question assumptions, and derive conclusions from data
- Possess strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex models and data findings to non-technical stakeholders
- Can work independently as well as collaborate effectively with other teams

Typically, these skills are gained through a four-year degree in a related field of study such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science; working towards or dedication to pursue designations and/or certifications in Data Science (e.g., Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics [CSPA] designation from the Casualty Actuarial Institute or equivalent) and 3 -5 years' experience in a data science, research, and/or equivalent role along with 3 years of experience in Property and Casualty insurance with superior understanding of the business domain is an asset.  We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way, so please don't hesitate to apply. We'd love to hear from you!
