Description

The Director of Finance is responsible for compliance, forecasting, assisting with strategic planning, supervision and mentoring of finance staff, abides and enforces acts, policies, procedures in accordance with Montreal Lake Cree Nation legislation and federal legislation.

The Director of Finance is responsible for planning, directing, administrative functions, monitors comptrollership functions in order to ensure finances are managed according to generally accepted accounting principles and this includes; preparing the annual budget, conducting financial analysis and preparation of financial reports, developing and implementing an effective system of accounting and accountability mechanisms, oversees the management of the payroll system and maintaining bylaw records in relation to finance.

The Director of Finance directs and develops monthly management reporting package and analysis, communicates financial results to the Chief and Council, Band Manager, Senior Management and Boards/Committees. Provides variance reports and identifies areas of improvements and directs the development and maintenance of key operating indicators related to finance and administration.

    Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Accounting major) or Business Administration
    Chartered Accountant or Certified Management Accountant Designation
    Related Training and Work Experience in the Accounting and Management Field
    Experience working in a First Nation organization
