The Ministry of Environment, Lands Branch, is seeking three highly motivated individuals to work in the Policy and Programs Unit as Protected and Conserved Areas Specialists. The successful candidates will lead the development and implementation of decision support systems/tools, guidelines, policies and programs to support protection and conservation efforts in Saskatchewan as part of the provincial commitment to protect 12 per cent of lands and waters.
As a Protected and Conserved Areas Specialist you will play a vital role in advancing conservation efforts across Saskatchewan. A candidate of choice will facilitate engagement and strategic planning for the establishment of Protected and Conserved Areas (PCAs) and leading projects to further protected areas initiatives.
By blending stakeholder collaboration, data management and technical GIS expertise, this role ensures that conservation objectives are met while balancing sustainable land-use practices and development opportunities.
Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be obtained through a Doctorate in Ecology or a Master's Degree and 3 years of directly related, high-level experience in biodiversity conservation issues.
