About the facility: The Elder Home is responsible for the provision of quality care to clients by providing personal care and respite assistance to clients. This is a 24/365-day facility with Level 1-2 and 3 care to residents.
About the position: Working 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule, Personal Care Workers support and supervise individuals with physical abilities; use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities; prepare and serve meals as planned; administer prescribed medications; maintain sanitation of the Elder Home; and, assess needs of clients on an on-going basis.
Working Conditions:
Shift work (12 hour) rotation including days, nights and weekends. Shifts can be long and demanding, therefore, emotional endurance is required;
Standing and/or walking for long periods of time;
Assist in the mobilization of clients (i.e. pushing and pulling wheelchair; use of mechanical lifts)
Qualifications: Suitable candidates will have a minimum Grade 12; Personal Care Worker, Continuing Care Aide or Home Health Aide Certificate or equivalent is preferred; Combination of Education and Experience may be considered; on the job training will be provide Certified First Aide & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain; Previous home care or Elder care experience is an asset; Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset; Valid Drivers License preferred but not required.
